SAD! Nollywood Actor Emeka Ike thrown out of rented duplex over failure to pay N8.5 million rent

The Sun reports...

Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike who has been thrown out of his rented apartment in Magodo GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, over his inability to pay an accumulated three year rent of N8.5 million.
The apartment, a twin duplex located at 1, Raji Oladimeji Street, Magodo GRA, was until his ejection, used by Emeka to run his business.
 Emeka had in 2007 diversified by establishing a secondary school named St Nicholas College and decided to hire the premises on a five-year lease agreement from an 87-year-old retiree, Chief Samuel Agboola Akintan at the rate of N2 million per annum for the first two years and N3 million annually for the remaining three years, bringing the total rent of five years to N13 million.

Saturday Sun gathered that Emeka was able to get his landlord accept a deposit of N2 million with a promise to pay the rest later. Trouble, however, started when a year after moving in, the popular actor began to default and at a point issued a dud cheque of N1.5 million.
To force Emeka to pay his money and eject him from the property, Chief Akintan through his company, Samak Investments Ltd, had to drag the actor to the Ikeja Magistrate court.Without much delay, the court had on November 22, last year ordered the actor to vacate the premises but his refusal to heed the order led the court Sheriff to carry out  execution of the judgment on January 24 this year when his property was thrown out. Suspected Killers Of Prince Noel Tochukwu Arrested In Imo State

The recent suspension of the erstwhile Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria has ignited a debate on Social Media and as has become typical with many pundits, the discourse has been dominated by sentiments rather than facts.

As Sanusi has indicated that he will be challenging his suspension in court, I will not make this piece about him and recent events surrounding him. Yes, I will cite some examples of double standards as regards the approach taken by some analysts, but in my view, the matter is now best left to the courts.

What I will say however to those who are propagating the propaganda that the President suspended Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to stop him from speaking is this: it was Sanusi’s job that was suspended, not his mouth and anyone who knows him knows full well that he will not let anything come between him and a microphone.

Nicki Minaj sued for $30m for 'stealing' wig designs

Nicki Minaj is being sued for $30million by her former wig maker for 'stealing' his wig designs which he claims made her famous.

Instead, Mr Davidson said he was later ignored by Minaj who went on to sell branded wigs for massive profits on her website.  He accuses her of harming his business.

In the lawsuit accessed by Time magazine, Mr Davidson's lawyer said: "Her lawyers may complicate it, but we don’t need to get into intellectual property law. This is basic American morality. Nicki Minaj lied to this man and cheated him."

His lawyers added that Mr Davidson created "fresh, hip and unique wigs" that "significantly contributed to Minaj’s unsurpassed notoriety for her wigs".

No Igbo Presidential Candidate For 2015 Elections - Governor Theordore Orji

The governor said this in Umuahia when he received a delegation of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos branch, who were on a fact finding and courtesy visit to the state.

Orji said as long as President Jonathan would run for second term in 2015, he remained best bet for Ndigbo and should, therefore, not be distracted.
However, Orji noted that there might be opportunistic aspirants who might join the race to bargain for positions but warned that it would not work for them in 2015.
“Any person who tries it will fail. No person has any chance from this place, South East, as long as President Jonathan wants to run. For us here in Abia, supporting the President is sacrosanct,” the governor said.
He condemned the activities of those who formed parallel organisations under sundry names, claiming to represent Igbo interest, warning that such activities tended to water down the strength and integrity of the Igbo socio-cultural group.
“Every reasonable Igbo man should be a member of Ohanaeze. I am committed to supporting Ohanaeze now and forever,” Orji said.
Earlier in his remarks, the President of Ohanaeze Lagos and leader of the delegation, Chief Fabian Onwughalu, explained that the team was going round Igbo speaking states on a fact-finding mission to see how governments were performing. Click on KEEP READING to continue..

Akolade Arowolo after found guilty sentenced to death by hanging for killing his banker wife

Arowolo Akolade, the man who stabbed his banker wife to death on Friday June 24, 2011 after a domestic dispute at their home in Isolo, Lagos, has been found guilty of her murder and has been sentenced to death.

Akolade appeared before trial judge Justice Lateefat Okunnu of the Ikeja High Court this morning Friday Feb. 21 and was found guilty on one-count of murder. The judge said the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that he killed his wife.

“I pronounce the defendant guilty and accordingly sentenced to death,” Justice Okunnu pronounced. Akolade burst into tears after the verdict was read.

Akolade and Titilayo had been married for only two years and had a young daughter when he brutally attacked her with a knife on his birthday after they argued. Arolowo claimed in court that Titi had attacked him with the knife and eventually turned the knife on herself. The court didn’t subscribe to his story. See his narration below...

Read the Financial Reporting Council Report that got Sanusi suspended

 

President Jonathan's decision to suspend CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi yesterday Feb. 20th was based on a report of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, FRCR dated June 7, 2013. In the report, FRCR ripped apart the 2012 audited financial statement of CBN and exposed what it termed as 'fraud', 'clear display of incompetence',and  'excesses and wastefulness of Sanusi and the CBN.'
The 13-page report claimed a whooping N1.257 billion was spent for 'lunch for policemen'. There were also bogus payments to airlines to distribute currency nationwide. The FRCR also claimed CBN has held an account with a balance of N1.423b for an unknown customer since 2008. The report had recommended the sack of Sanusi and his deputy.

‘I asked the goat for permission’ Man arrested for having s*x with animal

The chief magistrate’s court sitting in Dutse has ordered the remand of the boy, Malam Kamisu Baranda, in prison for two weeks.

Magistrate Awwalu Sani Balago said the accused person did not confess that he committed the act but the court remanded him to allow police make further inquiries.

Kamisu was said to have admitted that the goat belonged to him and that he had asked the goat to have sexual intercourse with him but he was arrested by the village head of the area and handed over to the police.

He explained that this was not the first time of having sex with animals inside bush because he has done it over 10 times and was never arrested.

He regretted that if he knew that he would be arrested, he would have not tried it because it was the reason why he did not make love with women in the area. He said animals satisfied his demand, that is why he is not after women in the state just to avoid embarrassment but still he found himself ambushed by people in the area.

He called on the court to do justice for him because he knows that what he did was an offense to a society and against the Islamic injunctions.

Following the controversial suspension of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria,the federal government has fowarded the name of Zenith Bank Group managing director (GMD),Mr.Godwin Emefiele as the new CBN governor to the senate.

 

The profile of Godwin Emefiele on Zenith Bank website shows he came the chief executive officer of Zenith Bank in August 2010. Until then he was the Deputy Managing Director of the bank, having been appointed into that position in 2001. Emefiele has been on the bank’s management team since inception and has held various management positions in the bank, including serving as the Bank’s Executive Director in charge of Corporate Banking, Treasury, Financial Control and Strategic Planning.

Until he took over as Group Managing Director, Emefiele was directly responsible for all the Group’s local subsidiaries, Treasury and Correspondent Banking, and Multilateral, Conglomerates, & Private Banking. Skales Part Ways with Banky's EME

Lagos based record label, Empire Mate Entertainment, EME, and rapper, Skales, have parted ways.

According to reports, the label allegedly refused to renew the ‘Mukulu’ singer’s contract.

Skales, who was signed unto EME in 2010 alongside pop star, Wizkid, is yet to release an album.

Sources say the label did not renew the rapper cum singer’s contract because, according to EME, it had failed to make returns on its investment.

"Suspension of Sanusi Lamido an illegality" - Aturu

 

News filtering in about the purported suspension of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, by the President is the most egregious desecration of the rule of law and the principle of legality in Nigeria to date. It is unsurpassed in its blatant illegality and immorality. PM News reports.

 

The decision is symptomatic of the desperation that has gripped the presidency and its allies in the wake of the troubling allegations made by the Governor of the Bank that public officials in the NNPC are looting the country blind in the name of subsidy payments. To the best of my knowledge the allegation has not been coherently answered by the Corporation or by the Government.

As far as the law goes, the purported suspension of the Governor is unwarranted. Section 11 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007 clearly lists the instances when the Governor or any of his Deputies can cease to remain in office. The life of a 17-year-old student of Bowen University, Opeyemi Odusanya, has been cut short by some cult members in Lagos.

It was gathered that the undergraduate was murdered for allegedly rejecting sex_ual advances from some youths in the area and also for “being too proud.”

The victim was a 300 level student of Biochemistry at the university.

The governors of Akwa Ibom and Abia states, Godswill Obot Akpabio and Theodore Orji, respectively, are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), both states border each other and are oil-producing entities. Indigenes of the two sub-nationalities inter-marry and some of their communities have cultural and language affinities! I almost married an Ibomite.

The culinary distinction and unparalleled feministic allure of these our neighbours can never be found in any other part of the country and excite my people to gastronomic stupor and orgiastic recklessness! 

Finally, both states receive huge derivative and statutory allocations. While Akpabio is using the huge resources judiciously in uncommon transformation of his hitherto rustic state, his Abia State counterpart is domesticating our own and those who can raise eyebrows are all compromised to satiety! 

That is where the contiguity ends and comparative disparities begin. Recently, editors on the platform of the Nigerian Guild of Editors met in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, for its yearly conference, shortly before the last one held in Asaba, Delta State, not long ago.

At the end of the proceedings, Akpabio wondered how those of us from Abia State were going to return because of the impassable routes after the boundary between his state and Abia! He humorously offered to shelter Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, one of the delegates, until a solution to the highway menace in Aba en route to Umuahia (Ugochukwu's destination) was found. This is confirmatory of how bad the situation is. Kenneth Ugbechie, publisher of Nigerian Economist and pal of mine, and I flew together from Lagos to Owerri en route to Uyo for the same event. Scheduling an interview with Pete  Edochie seems like an assignment of a lifetime.There have been stories about him being a no-nonsense man, and someone who had been wary of journalists since he was kidnapped a few years back. Even his movie roles as a wicked ritualist, Igwe or strict father did not help matters either.He did not pick his phone the first time, but when he eventually did, one had a momentary  fear of rejection,  which had been the lot of many before now.

“Good afternoon sir. My name is Joan from the Saturday Tribune. We haven’t heard from you in a while; we have missed your movies and your proverbs, and I would like to schedule an interview with you.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    He seemed to pull back a little and I felt ‘Well, if he says no, too bad.’ But he laughed softly and said, “Joan, your name is pronounced ‘J-o-n-e’ not ‘Jo-anne’; why have you decided to spoil your name? When I was younger, I trained in the British Broadcasting Corporation. You dared not pronounce names that way.”

“Yes sir, actually sir, I know.” (That actually brightened up the mood). Then he laughed heartily and said, “About the interview, I’ll think about it and get back to you.”

Of course, the next time, he agreed and said he would be in Lagos the next weekend. When I arrived at the venue of the interview, I was ushered in and asked to wait for minutes. And when he came in, he was actually very different from what we used to see on the screen.  He was as tall as a giant, and he spread out his hands and beckoned on me to come into his embrace.   I thought I heard him whisper a few words that sounded like

‘Don’t be afraid, honey. Nno (welcome).’

He sat down and said,

“You know why I agreed to grant this interview? Most of the times people call me for interviews and I keep running away, but you never gave up; you never gave me a break. You have been on my case for the past three weeks. Well done kid.”

In this chat with JOAN OMIONAWELE, the ace broadcaster/actor  described his world and his life as an actor.
You were rumoured to have died last year; how did that make you feel?

It did not make me feel anything.

Son to Governor T.A Orji of Abia State, Chinedu Orji aka “IKUKU” yesterday displayed another level of his usual unruly and criminal behavior at the Okpara square, Umauhia, venue of the official declaration of his father’s senatorial ambition ahead of the 2015 general elections.

“IKUKU”, the self acclaimed Governor of the state, who was angered by the utterance of his late PA over a minor issue, directed his police orderly to shoot the late aide. All efforts to save the victim did not yield any result as he lost blood profusely. Ghanaian University Student Commit Suicide On Valentine’s Day - See Photo

 

The entire South Campus of the University of Education Winneba in Centre region of Ghana was thrown into a state of uproar as a level 100 student of the University was discovered dead in a nearby uncompleted building.

Identified as Solomon Obeng, the Basic Education student committed suicide by hanging himself in the uncompleted building on Valentine's Day after realizing he had obtained 3Es in his examination.

According to the University’s regulations, obtaining 3Es in an examination meant an outright dismissal after grades have been displayed on the school’s notice boards.

Some students who could not phantom why the deceased committed suicide considering the fact that ‘the results could be manipulated’ told 233 Live News the University management was to blame for the unfortunate incident…
