The computer expert was a leading member of a youth wing of the Syrian opposition, and fled to Europe in fear of his life after several of his colleagues were arrested by the Mukhabarat, Syria’s feared intelligence agency. The Syrian conflict has become increasingly bloody this year, with a number of chemical weapons atrocities and vicious attacks on civilians. Madonna has beaten Lady Gaga to the title of highest-paid musician in the world, according to Forbes magazine.

The 55-year-old singer is still the queen of pop according to the magazine, earning $125 million from June 2012 to May 2013 thanks to her sell-out ‘MDMA Tour’, miles ahead of her nearest rival Lady Gaga, who raked in $80 million.

Rockers Bon Jovi and country singer Toby Keith were next, with Coldplay coming in fifth place.

M.I Abaga The chairman: His Burning Desire For Greatness

With two successful albums, several mix-tapes, multiple awards, creative collaborations under his belt and his latest skit as part of the trio of prestigious judges on the recently concluded Glo Xfactor, MI Abaga speaks to ESSENTIALS about his forth-coming album and his burning desire for greatness.

Since the release of your first album, Mr Incredible, you have been churning out hit after hit. What do you reckon is your distinctive quality, especially in Nigeria’s highly competitive music industry?

I think it’s that fire, that burning desire within me to keep bringing good stuff. For a music-lover like me, there’s the hunger to always offer more music to the world. Now, when a hit is made, it is the determination and hard work put in – not just to bring about a song – that makes it a masterpiece in its own way. But, of course, none of this would be possible without God who is the strength, unrelenting spirit and the ultimate gift.

What do you think of being described as a ‘rap icon’?

“I didn’t notice anyone was running after my car” Pasuma releases statement on alleged murder case

Day before yesterday (Wednesday)  we published that Fuji artiste, Pasuma, was involved in a murder mess.

Reacting to the report, Pasuma released a press statement a few hours ago, narrating his side of the story.
The statement reads thus:

“On October 24th I had a show somewhere around idimu and as usual there were quite a lot of people there. After my performance I made for my car after settling the area boys with a large sum of money.

Definitely, I had to zoom off because I didn’t want them to mob me. I left the venue and drove straight to my house. Later that night, I heard someone was killed at the show. I was surprised because people don’t fight at my shows.  It was later explained to me that the young man was killed by policemen. I tried to get details of the incident and that was when I gathered that one of the boys hung on to my car before I drove off.
