Samsung’s naughty billboard 'The penis, mightier than the finger' is a fake - CHANNEL 24

Cape Town – A photo of a Samsung billboard displaying a rather awkward spelling mistake is a fake, a Samsung spokesperson told Channel24 on Wednesday.

According to reports earlier in the week, the billboard - which reads "The penis, mightier than the finger" instead of the original idiom "the pen is mightier than the sword" – was erected in Egypt, Pakistan, Kenya and France.

A £10,000 reward for information to help track down an escaped child killer has been offered by police.

Convicted murderer Lerone Boye hasn’t been seen since he absconded from a mental health unit in Hackney, east London, on October 16.

Boye, 27, was sentenced in December 2012 to 28 years in prison for the murder of 17-year-old Kelvin Chibueze in Ilford in August 2011.

Google has posted a white ribbon bow symbol below the search bar on its homepage to celebrate International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The symbol is dedicated to initiatives taken by the UN Women organization for the eradication of violence against women worldwide. Clicking on the symbol navigates directly to the UN Women organization’s website (United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Women Empowerment), which works on issues related to violence against women and girls across the world.

One might not have noticed the symbol on Google’s homepage, considering that it is displayed unlike Google’s usual way when it posts a more prominent interactive and colorful doodle dedicated to a person, cause or occasion on its homepage.

2015: I heard rumours presidency bribed 400 Northerners to betray North –Gov Aliyu

Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) and governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu yesterday said he heard speculation that 400 prominent Northerners have been bribed to betray the region and deliver the Presidency to President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

Aliyu also vowed that those who collected money to betray the North in 2015 would be exposed “as soon as we lay our hands on the list of the people”.

The absence of Jude Okoye, elder brother of the duo of Peter and Paul Okoye of P-Square, has been alleged to be an act of protest on the part of their manager, a friend of the artistes disclosed.

Last Sunday when Peter Okoye and Lola Omotayo held their traditional wedding ceremony, Jude was not in attendance, though he was said to have been somewhere in Accra, Ghana.

Jonathan Makes Appearance At Investors’ Conference In London

LESS than 24 hours after the Presidency confirmed President Goodluck Jonathan’s inability to attend the opening ceremony of the ongoing Honourary International Investors’ Council (HIIC) conference in London, United Kingdom, the President was reported to have made a surprised appearance at the event on Friday.

   Presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, had in a statement on Thursday said that the President was unable to attend the opening of the conference and instead, sought medical attention in an undisclosed hospital in London.

 Abati had added that Jonathan became indisposed and could not be present at the opening of the meeting, but “has since been examined by competent medical practitioners” and “advised to rest for a few days.”

  

 The statement did not specify the nature of the illness, neither did it identify the hospital where the medical examination allegedly took place.

  

 However, Jonathan suddenly made a surprise appearance at the Hilton Hotel, Parklane, London venue of the conference on investment.

 The President arrived at the second floor venue of the event at exactly 9:30, London time, was in company of Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the UK, Senator Dalhatu Tafida, and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Nurudeen Mohammed. He apologised to members of the council for his inability to attend the conference on Thursday, blaming it on his ill health.

Jonathan declared fit, to return to Nigeria Sunday- Abati

The president will arrive Abuja on Sunday evening.

President Goodluck Jonathan suffered from acute abdominal pain in London but has been treated and declared fit, presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, said in a statement on Saturday.

Mr. Jonathan fell ill on Wednesday while in London for the Honorary International Investors Council meeting. 

He had to miss Thursday’s deliberations of the council.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, expressed his apologies over the debacle that the Anambra elections turned out to be.

He said he was sorry for the way the commission wound up “shattering the expectations of Nigerians” during the polls and that the commission failed to meet expectations with its performance.

He admitted to knowing that Nigerians were looking forward to the Anambra elections being the best ever conducted election in Nigeria, and he acknowledged that INEC failed woefully in that regard.

Anambra Governorship Election: Nwoye camp calls for cancellation of poll, accuses PDP leadership of betrayal

The outcome of last Saturday’s gubernatorial election has divided the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State.

An indication of this is the sharp disagreement over whether or not its candidate, Tony Nwoye, will participate in the November 30 supplementary election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had on November 18, declared the poll “inconclusive”.

Responding to the declaration, the National Publicity Secretary of the party and an indigene of the state, Chief Olisa Metuh, confirmed via a statement that the PDP will participate in the re-run election.

He further described the All Progressives Congress, APC, and others calling for cancellation of the poll as losers who should bury their heads in shame.

Adam Felman, 24, asked his girlfriend of two-and-a-half-years Jacqueline Harper, 23, to marry him after rapping about his feelings for her in front of the crowd during a battle in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
