She announced this on her blog. After thanking her readers for choosing her as their number one source for information, she said she decided to give back by offering “some money for Christmas.”
“I want to give out N1million this December. N100, 000 each to ten LIB readers to say thank you for an amazing year. For all your love, your support, for refreshing this page many times a day, for taking the time to drop comments, for choosing me as your number one source for information, but most importantly for changing my story and making my life much better. I’m truly grateful,” she wrote
Ikeji, who started her blog in 2006, was formerly a model. She also tried her hand at writing an inspirational book, It Takes You, and publishing a magazine, FH&M. However, none of her other ventures have brought her as much success as her blog.
Mostly based on articles from more mainstream news and gossip websites as well as publicity materials, the blog, according to its mast head, focuses on events, entertainment, lifestyle, fashion, beauty, inspiration and gossip.
Ikeji has also tried to use her blog to promote some humanitarian causes such as creating more awareness around the controversial Abia State University rape case in 2011 and celebrating the University of Port Harcourt students killed by vigilantes in Aluu, Rivers State in 2012.
She has, however, been engulfed in controversy for some posts on her blog; with actors, Jim Iyke, Tonto Dikeh and Richard Mofe Damijo calling her out for her less than flattering or invasive posts about them.
She was also criticised for posting pictures of the corpse of late actor, Sam Loco Efe, who died on August 7, 2011 in Owerri, Imo State.
She has been recognised for her entrepreneurial skills – successfully monetising her blog – and her humanitarian efforts by some international and local organisations. In 2012, she was nominated for the Future Award Young Person of the Year.
