Johannesburg - A steady stream of visitors
moved through Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Monday,
leaving flowers, pictures, and messages of support for the former
president.
Mall security staff placed queue
chains around the central fountain, which had been converted into a
shrine in memory of Madiba.
A separate queue of families and
couples waited for an opportunity to have a picture taken with the 6m
tall statue of Mandela at the one end of the square.
At the other end, against the back of the Sandton Library, video clips of Mandela speaking were shown on a large screen.
Of the people circling the fountain, many were tourists taking pictures and videos.
A table had been set up with condolence books where members of the public could leave messages.
Mandela
died at his home in Houghton, Johannesburg, Thursday night. He was 95.
he will be buried in Qunu, in the Eastern Cape, on Sunday.
