The Super Eagles moved up three steps in the new monthly FIFA rankings released on Thursday, October 17 as exclusively reported by The Naija Creative Team.
The Nigerian team rated 36th best team in the world in the last rankings, is now pegged at 33rd.The Eagles, who are the reigning African Champions, are still behind Algeria, despite the fact that the North Africans dropped four places. They are still 32nd.
Ivory Coast are still Africa’s top rated side in 17th position, followed by Ghana in 23rd place, before Algeria and Nigeria.
Mali, who occupy the 41st position, make up the Top Five African sides.
Spain remain the top ranked team in the world, but Germany had dislodged Argentina from the 2nd position, pushing the South Americans into 3rd place.
Meanwhile, tiny Switzerland had knocked mighty Brazil out of the Top 10 of the monthly FIFA rankings for all football playing nations in the world.
The new rankings showed that Switzerland jumped into the 7th position from their previous 14th place.
The Swiss were on a 14 game unbeaten run, dating from May 2012, when they suffered their last loss in friendly game against Romania.
Since then, they had racked up 10 wins and four draws in a row, in both friendlies and World Cup qualifying matches.
The last time the Swiss team lost in a competitive game was in October 2011, a 2-0 reverse to Wales in a European Championship qualifier at Liberty Stadium in Swansea.
During that no-loss run, Switzerland defeated Brazil 1-0 at St Jakob-Park in Basel last August.
