President Goodluck Jonathan |
The president will arrive Abuja on Sunday evening.
President Goodluck Jonathan suffered from acute abdominal pain in London but has been treated and declared fit, presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, said in a statement on Saturday.
Mr. Jonathan fell ill on Wednesday while in London for the Honorary
International Investors Council meeting.
He had to miss Thursday’s
deliberations of the council.
“After a thorough evaluation of the President’s symptoms, medically
referred to as acute abdomen, the doctors concluded that no surgical
intervention was required,” Mr. Abati said.
The spokesperson said Mr. Jonathan will return to Abuja on Sunday
evening at about 8:00 p.m. and will resume work at the Presidential
Villa on Monday.
He said the President seized the “opportunity to thank all Nigerians
once again for their sympathy, support and prayers for his quick
recovery following the announcement of his indisposition”.
