President Goodluck Jonathan has described the foster mother of his
wife as a woman with rare attributes who was always willing to share the
little she had with everyone.
Jonathan said this in Abuja yesterday in Abuja when Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo-led members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to condole with him and his wife over the death of Mrs. Charity Oba.
He said the family had been deeply pained since the news was broken, adding that the deceased was dear to them and responsible in bringing up his wife.
"Our mother that died is quite dear to us, not just today that we are playing politics. The first lady stayed with her till she grew up. This lady never complained and even for me as an in-law, I was free with her, she shared what she had. She used her savings from trade to support us,
"It is very difficult to have somebody with such rare attributes. That is why when we heard about the death we were very pained"
The chaplain of Aso Villa, Ven. Obioma Onwuzurumba, led the prayers for the repose of deceased's soul.
Meanwhile, in her tribute, First Lady Patience Jonathan described her mother as "a mother in a million who was a devoted mother and a devout Christian."
She recalled that Madam Charity Oba, who was the younger sister of her biological mother, who had raised her from a tender age and made her who she is today.
